BACK TO THE STONEAGE: Hoodoo Gurus announce Newcastle show

Ausrock royalty, Hoodoo Gurus will celebrate 40 years since the release of Stoneage Romeos with a gig at the Civic Theatre in November.

The Back to the Stoneage tour will stop in Newcastle on the band’s run around the country to commemorate the 1984 album that saw songs like Leilani, Tojo, My Girl and I Want You Back become part of the Australian soundtrack.

“Stoneage Romeos’ was a pivotal album for us and many of its songs have remained live favourites ever since,” frontman, Dave Faulkner said.

“It’ll be great to play some of those “less-travelled” songs from it on this tour – even though that means we’ll be playing longer sets to fit everything else in as well.

“To my mind, that’s a win-win situation.”

The tour announcement comes on the back of the release of the band’s extremely limited, vinyl collector’s set and news that a 40th Anniversary vinyl of Stoneage Romeos is set to drop on Friday, 17 May.

Melbourne alt-rockers Dallas Crane will open for the Gurus on their stop in Newcastle playing songs from their ARIA Music Award-nominated back catalog.

Hoodoo Gurus will play at the Civic Theatre in Newcastle as part of the Back to the Stoneage tour on Friday, 15 November 2024. Pre-sales will kick off at 10.00 am on Wednesday, 15 May, with general on-sales from Friday, 17 May. Visit for tickets and more information.
