This summer locals are invited to embark on an astronomical journey at Newcastle Museum.
Australia in Space promises an immersive experience that transports visitors to the cosmos, providing a unique opportunity to explore the Martian surface, step aboard a space station, and even capture a celestial selfie.
At the heart of the amazing experience are captivating interactive displays that put budding astronauts in the shoes of the real deal.
From taking command of a rover to building a spacesuit, the exhibition allows participants to delve into the challenges of everyday activities like sleeping, washing hair, cooking, and eating in the distinctive environment of space.

There are three zones in total, each exploring a different realm of Australian space operations and expertise.
Among the exhibition’s highlights is a virtual telescope that connects visitors to iconic deep space missions. Additionally, a cooperative computer game based on Australian technology allows friends to collaborate in managing orbital traffic and tackling space junk.
One of the triumphs of the exhibition is its ability to entertain both space enthusiasts and newcomers, aligning with Australia’s vision for a vibrant and diverse space sector.
To complement the experience, free science shows will also run throughout the school holidays, providing additional educational value for visitors of all ages.
Australia in Space is now open at the Newcastle Museum and will run until Sunday 10 March 2024.
