With Aussie artists doing it tough in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Triple J has announced it is bringing its Ausmusic T-Shirt Day forward to April.
Normally held in November – AusMusic Month – the national youth broadcaster announced a revised date of April 17 for music fans across the country to rep their favourite artist on their chest.
The idea is pretty simple. Just wear some merch (T-Shirts, socks, boxer shorts…whatever!) from an Aussie artist, snap a pic of you in said gig garb and share it online with the hashtag #AusmusicTshirtDay.
It’s the perfect opportunity to bolster your wardrobe with some new threads while also giving Aussie artists some dollars during this uncertain time.
While checking out artist social media for merch links is a great way to go to find your new favourite band tee, the awesome not-for-profit Support Act has collated a bumper list of retailers for Australian artists from across the musical spectrum.
Also, the good folk over at Triple J Unearthed have created a guide to their ten favourite shirts from Unearthed artists that is sure to point you in the right direction.
Aussie-based band merchery 24Hundred is also a great place to start.
If your wardrobe is currently overflowing with quality Aussie band merch, you can still help out with a donation to Support Act which will lend a much-needed helping hand to music industry professionals that have fallen on tough times
