Another Burger Joint has been the quiet achiever in the local burger game. Tucked away upstairs as part of the Westfield Kotara Shopping Centre “The Rooftop” development you’d be forgiven if you’ve missed it during your retail therapy sessions.
They say their menu is inspired by Japanese flavours. And while that’s mostly true, the real question is why would you visit a shopping centre for your burger fix when there are so many great burger slingers dotted around town.
Well, the real appeal here is the fresh ingredients, fun dine-in vibes and array of Japanese drinks in the fridge. With it’s proximity to the Westfield Timezone, it’s the perfect accompaniment to a few hours of air hockey, circular bumper cars and claw machines.
Below you can check out a few things that we think you should try during your next, or first, visit to this quirky shopping centre eatery.
THE SOFT SHELL CRAB BURGER
The star of the burger menu show is the Soft Shell Crab Burger. And it’s got all the right moves too.
The crab is lightly battered and crispy, there’s a nice crunch from the red cabbage and cucumber and it’s all wrapped up in a potato bun. What’s not to love?
TONKATSU LOADED FRIES
This hot mess is a party your mouth didn’t know it was invited to. Crispy chips with lashings of kewpie mayo, classic tonkatsu sauce and bonito flakes – That stuff you get on top of Takoyaki (octopus balls) in Aussie sushi joints.
If they’ve got it on the board when you visit, you’d be crazy not to give it a whirl.
CLASSIC SUPER NINTENDO GAMES
Remember those cute little Nintendo Classic Mini consoles, loaded up with all your favourite 16-bit video gaming memories, that were released a few years ago? Well, in between devouring tasty treats and sipping on your freshly poured Asahi you can beat your mates on Street Fighter and Mario Kart.
It’s a great way to continue your Timezone party.
CLASSIC JAPANESE DRINKS
Ever tried Calpis? It’s a white, uncarbonated drink that kind of tastes like watery vanilla flavoured yoghurt. It’s a classic Japanese canned drink and it tastes a lot better than that description. It’s just one of the Japanese beverages stocked in the fridges at Just Another Burger.
If that doesn’t sound like your jam, you can pop a ball on a bottle of Ramune lemonade. The bigger kids can also enjoy a cocktail or a Japanese Tap Beer too.
