One of the most anticipated local shows of the year, Tinno’s Guitar Fest, has just announced that another Australian music legend will be making a special appearance at the September event.
The show already features some of the finest local and national guitarists with Bob Spencer (The Angels, Skyhooks), Grant Walmsley (The Screaming Jets), Dave Hinds (Finch, Rabbit) and Dai Pritchard (Rose Tattoo, Billy Thorpe) appearing alongside local faves, Justin Ngariki, Adam Miller, Nick Raschke and, of course, Newcastle’s own Godfather of Rock, Mark Tinson.
Now, it has been announced that, just ahead of their 40th anniversary national tour, Vspy Vspy’s Craig Bloxom will be joining the iconic lineup at Tinno’s Guitar Fest.
Vspy Vspy are riding the crest of a resurgent wave right now as they celebrate the 40th anniversary of their landmark albums Harry’s Reasons and A.O. Mod. TV. Vers.. The band exploded out of the derelict squats of Glebe in Sydney in 1986 with the Top 40 hit ‘Don’t Tear It Down’, a rallying cry against the government’s plans to demolish the very buildings the band called home. Notably, the song was born during a soundcheck at the old Newcastle Workers Club.
Alongside Midnight Oil, V Spy V Spy became a voice for social injustice and change, playing to full houses across Australia and building a huge fan base that only got bigger with their smash hit ‘Hardtimes’.
Bloxom’s addition to the already star-studded bill makes for a one-night-only show that will be as memorable as it will be historic. Tickets for the show at flamingos on 17 September are on sale now at flamingos.live.
