Lake Macquarie is set to come alive with a diverse lineup of music, sports, and cultural events as part of the Lake Mac Festival.
The four-month festival, running from January to April, is packed with entertainment for both locals and visitors, with major highlights including rock music icons, an international music ensemble, and adrenaline-fueled sporting events.
One of the festival’s biggest drawcards is the Lookout Festival on Saturday, 8 March. This festival will bring Australian rock royalty to the stage in Speers Point Park, including JET, Grinspoon, The Veronicas, Spiderbait, Jebediah, Magic Dirt, and Youth Group.
Live music continues later in the month, with the internationally acclaimed Eishan Ensemble set to perform at Rathmines Theatre. Blending Persian and contemporary jazz influences, the group will offer a unique musical experience.
We will also get to see First Nations Papua New Guinean artist Ngaiire, who will showcase her powerful vocals and distinctive sound at Warners Bay Theatre, baramayiba. The Multi-Arts Pavilion mima will also host Unfurl, a celebration of LGBTQIA+ art, culture, and community.
Sports enthusiasts won’t be left out, with the Lake Mac Triathlon featuring a fast and flat cycling and running course set against the stunning backdrop of Lake Macquarie. Adding to the sporting excitement, The Black Pearl will launch the 2025 Quad Crown MTB series with Glenrock’s iconic trails hosting a thrilling time trial and stage event.
