Alfie’s welcomes new head chef Nikhil Bhanot

New Lambton’s much-loved Italian eatery and wine bar, Alfie’s, is stirring up a little excitement this week with the announcement of Nikhil Bhanot as their new Head Chef.

Joining forces with Executive Chef Rafael Tonon, Bhanot brings a wealth of culinary prowess and a touch of Sydney flair to the position.

Having recently bid farewell to the bustling city of Sydney, Bhanot’s culinary journey has led him to Alfie’s doorstep, leaving behind an impressive legacy as the Executive Chef at Fabbrica Pasta Bar, part of the esteemed Love Tilly Group. With a resume boasting stints at renowned hatted restaurants like Ragazzi, Bar Copains, Movida, Nomad, and Cut Bar & Grill,.

“I have known Nikhil for many years and have watched his career go from strength to strength,” Executive Chef Rafael Tonon, said.

“I couldn’t be happier for us to work alongside each other and to have him join the Alfie’s team as we continue to deliver the curated experience at Alfie’s New Lambton and expand our catering offering.”

As Bhanot steps into his new role, Tonon will pivot towards new culinary horizons, spearheading Alfie’s expansion into event catering. Embracing preeminent venues such as Ravella in Newcastle and Leaves & Fishes in Lovedale, Tonon’s vision promises to elevate Alfie’s gastronomic experience beyond its cozy confines.

For Alfie’s, it’s business as usual though. They’ll continue delivering on their dynamic menu which focuses on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and a fusion of traditional Italian flavours and contemporary twists.
