Traditionally, if a man loses his bread in the Fondue pot he must buy a round of drinks for everyone. We’re not sure if they’re enforcing that rule at 5 Sawyers, where Fondue has quickly become the star of their new menu offering, but we can only live in hope.
The fact is the new menu at 5 Sawyers is all about sharing. From the House Made Pretzels, Salt and Pepper Banana Prawns and Crinkle Cut Chips to the Smoked Trout and Sydney Rock Oysters you’re gonna find yourself with a table of tastiness that you can enjoy with your mates. This is hands on eating at it’s best, and the Sawyers Cheese Fondue is the star of the show.

There’s something special about a pot of melted cheese slowly bubbling away that really gets the appetite going. It’s visually playful and when it arrives at your table the aroma is really something else. The Sawyers Cheese Fondue is served with grilled bread, cornichons, pickled onion, cauliflower and broccolini.
#PROTIP: Add Chorizo for an extra $6. You wont be disappointed.
It’s all part of the new menu at 5 Sawyers on Darby Street in Newcastle. You can check it out on their website, or just throw caution to the wind and drop in. They’re open from 4pm till late Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and 3pm till late Saturday and Sunday.
