The Lake Mac Festival is back in 2024 and locals are set for a weekend of family-friendly fun and action across the city.
The festival will take over Lake Macquarie across the weekend of Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 January 2024.
One of the highlights of the festival is a massive fireworks display launching from several key locations around the lake making sure everyone can get a great vantage point.
The annual community breakfast at Rathmines Park is also back for the festival. It kicks off at 7:30 am with a stack of local community groups cooking up a storm until 10:30 am. The breakfast will also play host to a lineup of friendly entertainment and activities.
WHERE TO SEE THE FIREWORKS

Pack your picnic, support your local businesses or grab some dinner and drinks from a selection of food vendors based at each of the key viewing sites from 5 pm before the fireworks light up the skies above the lake at 9 pm.
WARNERS BAY FORESHORE
One of the best places to catch the Lake Mac Festival fireworks is at Warners Bay Foreshore. There is a stack of great food options dotted around the town and a great festival atmosphere on the foreshore.
TORONTO FORESHORE
Journey to the newly revitalized Toronto Foreshore Reserve, where you can unfold your chairs and lay out your rugs while supporting a variety of local takeaways and restaurants. Delight in the culinary offerings from onsite food and drink vendors, creating a perfect setting for a relaxing lakeside experience.
BROOKS PARADE RESERVE – BELMONT
Grab your chairs and blankets grab a bite to eat from the local takeaways and restaurants or explore the delectable options from onsite food and drink vendors before the fireworks kick off at 9 pm.
SPEERS POINT PARK
The fireworks at Speers Point will coincide with the closing ceremony of the Deaf Games happening in the city from the 13th until the 20th of January. There’ll be a stack of food trucks on site for a night of lights, celebration, and community spirit.
