With the skies over Newcastle set to come alive with the thunderous roar of aircraft for the two-day, anticipation is at an all-time high.

The event promises an unforgettable experience for aviation enthusiasts and families alike with incredible aerial displays and ground exhibitions, showcasing the prowess of the Air Force. Below you’ll find all the details you need to know to make the most out of the weekend.

Saturday, 18 November 2023

On Saturday, the skies above Newcastle’s Nobby’s Beach and the Hunter River Foreshore Park will be the stage for morning and afternoon flying displays by Australian Air Force aircraft.Get ready to witness breathtaking aerial performances from an array of heritage and vintage aircraft, including the Harvard, Winjeel, Spitfire, Mustang, and Canberra. You can also look forward to flypasts from F/A-18F, EF/A-18G Super Hornet, and the Growler. Best of all, this event is free for the community to enjoy!

There will be two flying sessions. The first one is from 10:00 am until 12.30pm and the second one is from 1:30pm until 4:00pm

PARKING: For those seeking convenience, a Park and Ride facility will operate from McDonald Jones Stadium, with parking available at Stockton within easy walking distance to the best viewing spots.

Sunday, 19 November 2023

Sunday’s action takes place at RAAF Base Williamtown and is a ticketed event. For just $10 per person (children 6 years and under get in free), you can explore static ground displays showcasing a wide range of Australian Defence Force capabilities. Please note that tickets won’t be available at the gate or on the day, so be sure to secure yours in advance.

PARKING: Options include the ‘Airfield’ temporary car park on the southern side of Williamtown Airfield.

Tickets & Information

You can purchase tickets for the RAAF Williamtown Open Day Sunday event online through Ticketmaster. All tickets must be purchased in advance with free adNewcastle Williamtown Air Showmission for children 6 years and under.

The event will run from 9am to 4pm, and attendees are advised to allocate at least two to four hours to explore all exhibits. Fighter World access will be exclusive to Open Day ticket holders.
