Last week we told you about Civic Digest, an Australian-first contemporary library, cafe and bar that has opened at the Civic Theatre Newcastle. The venue brings together cutting edge library technology and quality food and beverage services to create an ambient and creative space for culture consumers to meet. Last week we focused on the technology and the atmosphere, this week we’re going to highlight three items from the menu that keep us heading back to the Civic week after week.
A HEALTHY START: Byron Bay Muesli with Yoghurt & Berry Compote
The Byron Bay Muesli company use only the finest Australian Organic Oats, Organic & Biodynamic fruit and local Australian Macadamia Nuts. Their muesli is preservative free and they don’t add any sugar. It’s got a very unique flavour and combined with a tart but sweet berry Compote and smooth yoghurt, we’re hard pressed to think of something better to start your day with.
#protip: Forget you’re an adult, and mix everything in the bowl together for the perfect mouthful every time.
THE PERECT PICK-ME-UP: Zokoko Hot Chocolate
Zokoko are famous for their attention to detail when creating their drinking chocolate. Their product uses a blend of premium cocoa powder and organic sugar to produce a truly unique drinking chocolate.Naturally sweetened with organic cane sugar, Zokoko Organic Drinking Chocolate contains no powdered milk or other additives.
#protip: It’s hard to stop at one, so don’t beat yourself up when you order a second.
THE TUMMY FILLER: Classic Pork & Veal Meatballs with Rustic Tomato Sauce & Parmesan
This gluten free option on the Civic Digest menu is the perfect winter warner. A classic, well seasoned meatball is served with a chunky, hearty tomato sauce with ribbons of parmesan that bring the whole thing together.
#protip: If you’re in a group make sure your order two, because you won’t want to share
