New Zealand’s national treasures, The Topp Twins, cross the ditch in July for a show in Newcastle featuring a boot load of original songs and a diverse cast of hilarious travelling companions.
All the characters you’ve come to love will make an appearance including mega-stars Camp Mother & Camp Leader, Ken & Ken, the Gingham Sisters and Mavis & Lorna in the back seat, for three fun-filled shows in Newcastle, Tweed Heads and Brisbane.
Identical sisters, Lynda & Jools Topp are more laughs than a possum up your trouser leg and recognised as cultural icons internationally through their multi-awarded music, film “Untouchable Girls”, television series “Do Not Adjust Your Twinset” and “Topp Country”, and concert DVD “The Topp Twins & the APO”.
“Untouchable Girls” remains New Zealand’s highest grossing documentary and screened at twenty-five global film festivals. Amongst others, the bio-pic received the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival Audience Award.
Other accolades include an Order of Merit for Services to Entertainment, Honorary Doctorates of Arts Waikato University, Best Country Music Group/Duo, Entertainers of the Year, Best Country Album, Qantas Film & TV Awards Best Entertainment Programme, 2009 Best Feature Film and Best Original Music in a Feature Film.
The Topps refined their craft singing to the Huntly cows and busking in Auckland. They count performance for Their Royal Highnesses Prince Charles and Lady Camilla in New Zealand, as a career highlight. Lynda has a unique royal connection as she groomed polo ponies for Prince Charles four decades prior and recounts: “We had to warm his polo ponies up for him and I remember it vividly – he fell off.”
Catch The Topp Twins on Wednesday 9th of July at Wests New Lambton. For more information about the show, contact the venue.
