There’s just something about the change of seasons which really throws us off. I’m not sure whether it’s because we are grieving for summer or the fact our bodies have just had enough of being treated like a garbage can throughout the festive season and have since decided to go on strike but I can definitely feel a cold coming on. I’ve never been one to need an excuse to go out and have someone cook for me (I’d say for a change but that sounds totally fake) but if you’re looking for one, why not say you’re just loading your body with goodness in the hope of fighting off that impending cold. With that in mind, here are top five places in Newy to do just that.
For so many Novocastrians, Momos is a weekly (or sometimes even daily) decadent tradition. Not only do they serve great coffee, but they have pretty much everything and anything you could need to give your body the daily dose of goodness it deserves. Green smoothie? Check. Summer Bowl? Check. Green eggs? Check. The best thing is, you know they are only using the best ingredients rocking round because everything just tastes so darn good (oh and their menu changes seasonally).
Don’t like people? Want a fuss free interaction at lunch time? Haven’t been scared off by all of those Black Mirror episodes? Just looking for a super fast and super healthy alternative to well, pretty much any fast food joint rocking around town? Then Hey Zeus is for you. Hey Zeus serves up a variety of salads and wraps and other assorted #health related goodies making for a great fuss free way to kick start your work day. Oh and they also deliver locally around town. What a time to be alive.
Good Brother are purely on this list because of their Buddha Bowl. Everything you could ever want from a healthy breakfast/lunch is in this bowl, that I can guarantee. That, and it also tastes amazing. So amazing that my body didn’t even seem to know it was healthy and I ate the whole damn thing. Surely it can’t come more highly recommended than that.
Goodness Me Organics Adamstown
“Um hi of course a place called Goodness Me Organics is going to be on the list, duh…” Ok yes of course, everything in here is super healthy and super wonderful for your body, but we’re talking cold fighting remedies here and the flu fighter smoothie from Goodness Me Organics in Adamstown should be your ultimate go to. Hot tip for young players, add chilli for that extra hit of spicy flu fighting goodness.
Screamin’ Veemis or Screamin’ V as it is more affectionately known, is Newcastle’s number one go to for all things Vietnamese food. They do some jaw dropping salads which will make your whole body sing. Also, they are now on uber eats so you don’t even have to leave the house if you’re already feeling a little under the weater. Win, win, win.
