There’s no doubt about it, January is probably the worst month of the year when you’re talking about personal finances. You’re still feeling the pinch from the festive season and between new years eve and hottest 100 day, there just seems to be this constant cycle of expenditure and determination to live your best life. The thing is, your best life can only go as far as your bank account will let you, which is exactly why the ever popular Happy Hour will always be your best friend. But the best Happy Hours in town? See our top picks next time you schedule in a few too many Shandys for the boys.
Is there a better way to spend a midweek afternoon than sinking a few bevvies by the water, enjoying the best that our town has to offer? No? Exactly. Money Penny is my favourite haunt on Honey Suckle, and with $5 tap beer (and cider) between 4-6 weekdays, it’s kind of cutting it close to perfection really.
You know when you have that moment, where you finally realise that dreams actually do come true? Yeah, well, that happened when I found out that the Gateway, or as it’s more affectionately known – the G, does $2 beers on a Friday. TWO FLIPPING DOLLARS PEOPLE! That’s not a happy hour it’s a bloody miracle.
I always think of the Grand as like a pub’s pub. The one where you can walk in, always get a good seat, and tuck in to the awesome pub specials any night of the week. It’s a staple, especially for East End residents who are looking to escape the daily grind and sit back and relax after a hectic day at work. Moments like that are especially great between 4-6pm when the tap beers are $5. Perfection.
One of the best things about happy hour, is that you can buy all the beer you always wanted to, but could never afford. The fancy craft beer that your one rich mate always brags about. I know you know exactly what and who I am talking about. Thankfully, at the Lucky, you can do just that. Between 4-6 weekdays is where it’s at. Pull up a pew, get the gang together, and sink some sweet sweet craft beer for only $5 a pop.
Although not one to subscribe to the traditional notion of happy hour, the Family Hotel have always got some pretty sweet deals going on any day of the week (except Sundays because hi, hospo workers need days off too). Check out their website for sweet deals like free pool on Mondays, $12 Margaritas & Espresso Martinis on Fridays. But really though, $6 tins of VB, all day erryday.
