The Glenn Miller Orchestra, a concert spectacular is returning to Australia to Honour the Year of the ANZAC Centenary. Lead by musical director, Rick Gerber, the orchestra will play a string of wartime songs for a sentimental journey down memory lane at the Civic Theatre on Saturday the 28th of June.
The World famous Glenn Miller Orchestra show will feature 25 Musicians, Singers and Dancers all led by their world famous band leader, Rick Gerber.
Rick formed his first band while in high school. In early 1981 he joined the Jack Gillespie big band from Minneapolis for a short tour featuring big band stars Helen O’Connell, Johnny Desmond and Tex Beneke. Johnny Desmond was the featured vocalist with Glenn Miller’s Army Air Force Orchestra and Tex Beneke was widely known as the biggest star of Miller’s pre-war civilian orchestra who was featured on scores of hit records for his tenor sax solos and novelty vocals such as “ Kalamazoo”, “ Chattanooga Choo Choo”, “ Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree” and many more.
