The search is on! The organisers of Run Newcastle, a charity fun run, are on the hunt for some of Newcastle’s most exciting and talented musicians. The winner of their talent quest will perform live as part of the line up supporting Aussie singer songwriter and ‘X Factor 2015’ winner, Cyrus at this year’s Run Newcastle on Sunday 7th August.
Run Newcastle Talent Quest nominations are now open for those from all types of musical backgrounds including rock bands, hip hop artists and even a cappella groups. The talent quest will see bands, groups and solo performers that live, work or play in the Hunter Valley region all vying for a spot to rock the stage on event day.
HOW TO REGISTER
Acts can enter by sharing an original video showcasing their live musical talents via Instagram, Facebook or Twitter. The voting polls will be open to the local community, who will have the opportunity to place their vote for the musicians they want to see up on stage at this year’s Run Newcastle.
Those interested in entering the Run Newcastle Talent Quest should visit the Run Newcastle Facebook page for more information.
ABOUT RUN NEWCASTLE
The Run Newcastle 2016 event is set to be bigger and better than ever with the finish line precinct set to have participants soaking up the festival fun atmosphere and celebrating after the race. Offering events for all ages and abilities, participants can register in the Run Australia 12km Run, Cotton On Body 6km Run, Typo 6km Family Walk or the Cotton On KIDS 1km Run. Run Newcastle has raised over $372,000 since its first race day in 2013 and will again see 100 percent of registration fees go towards the redevelopment of the Adolescent Ward at John Hunter Children’s Hospital.
Cyrus will perform major hits including “Stone” and “Wicked Games” as well as his new single “Keep Talking”. There will be something for everyone with interactive stalls, rides and fun activities for the kids.
Cyrus only started singing a few months before his audition but he struck a chord with the judges following his brilliant acoustic performance of The Weeknd’s ‘Earned It’. Hailing from Wollongong, NSW, 19-year-old Cyrus is fresh out of high school and a self-taught guitarist who counts Nat King Cole, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Ray Charles as his biggest musical influences. Throughout the competition, Cyrus has delivered some of the greatest performances of the season, including ‘Wicked Game’ which hit the #1 spot on the iTunes singles chart and debuted at #6 on the ARIA Singles Chart.
