Melbourne rock ‘n’ soul powerhouse The Sugarcanes have announced a East Coast tour, which will be stopping in Newcastle at The Lass O’Gowrie on Saturday, June 4.
The tour is in support of their self-titled debut LP, which will be released Digitally and on split-coloured vinyl through Cobra Snake Neck Tie Records. The Sugarcanes were last in Newcastle supporting The Smith Street Band on their ‘I Scare Myself Sometimes’ national tour.
The Sugarcanes have been playing together since early 2014 and collective strength lies in their keen attention to those old soul sounds that, with the help of Lucy’s powerful vocals, are transformed into a modern rock n roll take on the classic heartbroken genre.
Audiences will be given the soul treatment when the five-piece deliver their fierce live show to The Lass O’Gowrie. Supporting them on the evening will be local act Jen Buxton & The Slaughterhouse Five, and Melbourne’s own Loose Tooth; the most recent signee’s to Courtney Barnett’s Milk! Records label.
