Tantrum Youth Arts has collaborated with Newcastle Region Library to create a free and effective literacy program to actively engage young children.
Stories Come Alive will be launched on Wednesday (March 16 2016) to mark the first performance of a touring program that will run throughout the year and travel to a number of different libraries within the Newcastle Region Library service.
“Children will take part in bringing much-loved stories to life through dance, song, drama and creative play with our story times presented by professional performers from Tantrum Youth Arts,” Library Manager Suzie Gately said.
“Each session covers two to three books within monthly themes such as safari, fairy tales, clothes, pirates, seaside, imaginary friends, transport and travel, puppets, farm, monsters, and aliens.”
Sessions start at 10.30am and run at most Newcastle Region Library branches. Session times and bookings are available through Eventbrite.
More than 24,000 children took part in Newcastle Region Library programs last year.
