Stag & Hunter to host Battle of the Bands

In the past 4 years over 400 bands have taken part in a competition that sees acts battle to win their way to the Airlie beach Music Festival. The Stag & Hunter Hotel in Mayfield will again play host to the local heats in 2017, beginning on 13 August. 

Newcastle joins a host of cities and towns across the country hosting local heats of the comp including 2017 additions of Toowoomba, Nimbin, Adelaide and Darwin. These addition make the passport to Airlie beach the biggest battle of the Bands competition in Australia.


1. Must be 18+ to enter

2. Each registered act to perform a minimum of 5 songs in their set

3. Each set must contain a minimum of 3 original songs

4. This competition is not open to Hardcore / Heavy Metal genres

5. $1,000 for winners (paid at festival)

6. Bands must have no more than 5 members

7. Organisers and Judges decision is final!
