The kids from Rosie’s School Of Rock in Adamstown have really gotten into the spirit of the 1233 ABC Oils Aint Oils competition. A number of the school’s bands have recorded covers of Midnight Oil as part of the 1233 ABC ‘Oils ain’t Oils” radio competition.

To promote the The Making of Midnight Oil exhibition coming to Newcastle Museum in February 2015, 1233 ABC Newcastle have been running a competition that encourages musos of all ages and skill levels to record a cover of a Midnight Oil song. The band or artist with the winning entry, judged by members of Midnight Oil and ABC staff, will have the opportunity  to perform at the launch of The Making of Midnight Oil exhibition. The top 3 entries will also have their song professionally recorded and be given a special look at the items on display at the exhibition.

Entries for the competition closed on November 21, and since then we’ve seen a steady stream of Oil’s cover appearing online. But it’s these videos, recorded by the kids at Rosie’s, that have us assured that the future of rock in Newcastle is bright.
