Review: WAVEVOM Eternal Summer

After a ridiculously long year of writing, recording and living the dream, the surf punk duo that is Wavevom have finally done it. Their second album, Eternal Summer has just dropped today and will make you nostalgic for drunk summer days and hot and sweaty nights.

Jed and Jack pack an absolute punch for a duo, and the kids are certainly alright. Their sound is tight, scrappy, and full of youthful rebellion that will have you kicking over your furniture and wishing you smoked a pack a day too.

You just can’t go past tracks like ‘Goon King,’ or ‘Bored 2 Death’  and with Jed’s unmistakable Aussie twang adding the all important relatability factor, you’ll be believing that ‘Durries R Good 4 U’ too. The record is definitely consistent, and if you’re digging their stuff from track one, you’ll be thrashing about to their sound all the way through.

Wavevom aren’t about lyrical complexities or anything too overcomplicated, but they don’t need to be – it’s kind of the point of surf punk right?

Eternal Summer is out now.

If it's on in Newcastle, it's on Newcastle Live
