Racquel Marshall is one of the locals competing in the Newcastle heat of Miss Country Girl Australia on the 20th of September at Stockton RSL Club. Newcastle Live chatted to Racquel ahead of the event this Sunday.
NL: What do you think makes a quintessential country girl?
Racquel: I think the perfect girl would love country activities and music, and also would have an easy-going, genuine and fun personality. And she would most certainly appreciate the little things in life!
NL: What would you say to critics who think this is just another beauty pageant?
Racquel: The thing that makes this different to a regular beauty pageant is the fact that the hosts try to take as much pressure off the girls as possible to make it that little bit more enjoyable than it would be otherwise, which is important because if it wasn’t fun, girls wouldn’t want to participate.
NL: What’s the most country thing about you?
Racquel: Probably my style of clothing, I live in denim and boots!
NL: Do you like country music? If so what’s your favourite song.
Racquel: Yes I do, I don’t think I could narrow it down to one song! But my favourite country singers are Kasey Chambers, Shania Twain and Carrie Underwood.
NL: What do you think other girls could get out of the event?
Racquel: A confidence and self esteem boost for sure! Plus it is a fun experience and there is the possibility of new friendships and work opportunities.
