Newcastle Roller Derby League will host their final bout for 2015 on Saturday, December 5th at the Newcastle Showgrounds Exhibition Centre in Broadmeadow. The main game of the double header event will see Newcastle face off against sister league South Side Derby Dolls in a contest that has been dubbed ‘Purple Reign’.
The event opener will be a junior game featuring skaters from Newcastle Junior Roller Derby in their first ever home game. Junior roller derby, for skaters aged 5 to 17 years and with a slightly modified ruleset, has exploded in popularity over the last twelve months in Australia. The Newcastle juniors have had the opportunity to play as far away as Adelaide, and most recently in Port Macquarie as part of the Smackdown Reloaded tournament. They are extremely excited to be able to play in front of a home crowd.
This event will also feature halftime entertainment by Newcastle Pro Wrestling, who have just finished up the last of their extremely popular live shows for 2015.
Tickets for the game can be prepurchased from newcastlerollerderby.org.au, or bought at the door on the day. Doors will open at 5:30pm for a 6pm start.
