Newcastle Live in association with EAO and Six String Brewing Co are excited to announce Elsewhere; A series of unique live music events with the first being held at Nobby’s Lighthouse on March 14 with Paul Dempsey, Steve Smyth, Melody Pool, and local supports Mark Wells and Jack Dawson.

The concept of Elsewhere was born from a desire to create a new live music experience in Newcastle. Our motive was to challenge the way live music is presented, and move away from the traditional pub and club style venues – We were compelled to produce it… Elsewhere.

With the city of Newcastle being blessed with many open and beautiful, yet often underused spaces, our aim was to utilise these areas for a new purpose while reigniting an appreciation for what our stunning city has to offer.

The inaugural Elsewhere event will be held on Saturday 14th March, 2015 at Newcastle’s iconic Nobby’s Lighthouse. Attendees will get the chance to enjoy some of Australia’s finest music acts at one of Newcastle’s most breathtaking sites offering 360 views of the ocean and the East End at sundown.

Such a grand location calls for a line-up of the same calibre, and headlining the event is a man considered to be Australian music royalty, Paul Dempsey.

Dempsey is a critically acclaimed Australian singer, guitarist and songwriter, known to most as the front man of Something For Kate. After a massive sold out national tour with SFK, followed by his own sold out solo tour, he is set to hit Newcastle armed with just a guitar and canon of fantastic songs.

Alongside Dempsey, are two exceptionally talented Australian artists who are currently making their own mark on the music industry, Steve Smyth and Melody Pool, plus local singer songwriters Mark Wells and Jack Dawson.

Steve Smyth has spent the last year taking his folky-blues style of rock on the road both nationally and internationally on the back of his debut album Exits. The singer songwriter’s spirited live performances must be seen to be believed.

A local favourite, Melody Pool, is described as a young artist with an old soul who has been winning the hearts of fans and critics alike following the release of her debut album, The Hurting Scene in 2013.

The Elsewhere ethos is to create a series of events that are as much about the atmosphere as they are about the great live music on stage. To complement the experience, the lighthouse event will offer a complete boutique bar courtesy of Six String Brewing Co. and Distillery Botanica, and pop-up food stalls by local eateries.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday 14th January 2015, available through Oztix.
