Murray’s Brewery is hosting an Australia Day long -long-weekend of un-boring flavours and festivities. The fun begins with the launch of the brewer’s first Passionfruit Beer, lamb-themed food specials, thong throwing competitions for little and big kids, plus free concerts playing everyone’s favourite Aussie tunes.
“We’re out to advance Australian fare this Australia Day long weekend and celebrate local flavours and craftsmanship,” says brewery owner, Murray Howe.
“It’s simply un-Australian to drink anything but great Aussie brews on Australia Day – so we are creating something special for the weekend with the release of our first Passionfruit Beer. We’ve had an overwhelming response to our fruit beers and first-ever cider this summer and it’s been very rewarding to see our experimentation pay off. It’s going to be a great weekend here at beautiful Port Stephens,” he added.
Murray’s beers will be matched to a series of food specials, themed around (you guessed it) lamb – including delicious lamb burgers. There’s a large range of local and regional wines to sample, as well as Murray’s current range of 100% Australian owned and brewed craft beer, plus its new apple cider.
Free concerts of great Aussie tunes will be performed from midday on Sunday and Tuesday, featuring local artist, Brien McVernon.
Each afternoon will culminate with a thong throwing competition – for both kids and adults – with prizes for the longest throws.
Brewery Tours will be held daily at 2.15pm.
The Brewery’s large undercover facilities will ensure that events will proceed rain, hail or shine. Murray’s Brewery and Port Stephens Winery is family friendly, and children are very welcome.
