This week’s program, Ossie And Friends (Lake Macquarie FM 97.3 Wednesday 6pm till 9pm) is proudly sponsored by VIBES Australia which is held at The Coast Hotel at Budgewoi each Thursday Night, 3 Bands for FREE.
First up this week, brought to you by MUSIC SOLUTIONS WARNERS BAY, is the high energy, 3 piece rockabilly band from Newcastle, BAD LUCK KITTY. They play a mix of cheeky rockabilly/psycobilly rock and are thoroughly entertaining. We kick off the show tonight with the lads joining us in the studio for around half an hour of mayhem and madness with some serious chat of course and some mad rockabilly.
The boys are all set for their huge album launch at the Stag & Hunter Hotel this coming Saturday Night. They will be showcasing their new album, “Afortunato Diablo” with plenty of other tracks that have influenced their sound over the years. Their visits to our studio are always fun and entertaining, and you really need to check them out “live” to get the full impact of their dynamic performance.
Our second guest in the studio, brought to you by CARIFF GOLF DRIVING RANGE, is PIPER BUTCHER. Piper Butcher is a 12 year old Novacastrian with a passion for music. This amazing youngster taught herself to play guitar and hasn’t stopped since that day. Piper will be in the studio to talk about her music, her life and what we can expect from her upcoming performance at GOATS (Going Off At The Swamp) this Sunday at Koala Park, Munmorah Power Station.
Piper will play several songs acoustically in the studio for us and we are really looking forward to showcasing young local talent.
Our phoner, finishing off the evening, is the beautiful MELINDA SCHNEIDER. Yes, Melinda Schneider, known for country music, also delves in several other projects. Apart from looking after her son and also her partner, MARK GABLE (THE CHOIRBOYS), which would be a full time job, Melinda balances her musical career quite well. I must say, I always stir up Mark Gable, he has a tough skin and an excellent sense of humour. Together, they make a sensational team, supporting each other’s careers.
Melinda’s project, MELINDA DOES DORIS, a show where Melinda showcases the beautiful songs of DORIS DAY, comes to Laycock Street Theatre at Gosford on Sunday the 9th April, 2pm. Tonight we will chat with Melinda about her show coming up, her music and other projects she is starring in. We will play several covers of songs by Melinda and a couple of Doris Day Classics.
All this and more on Ossie And Friends on Lake Macquarie FM 97.3, Wednesday Night from 6pm.
Coming up this weekend, THE PREMIER EVENT opening Youth Week, the 19th GOATS FESTIVAL (GOING OFF AT THE SWAMP Family Music Festival).
You would have seen all over the news the huge smoke stacks at Munmorah Power Station coming down last weekend, ironically where top local band, SHORT STACK, once played at GOATS. This weekend, the adjoining parkland at Koala Park transforms into the biggest outdoor youth music/family festival locally.
Over 100 young people will perform throughout the day on three separate stages, showcasing their music, either in bands, duos, trios or solo acoustic. This will be the 19th year in a row that the event has taken place, quite amazing, through the hard work of the team at the San Remo Neighbourhood Centre, also known at The Epicentre.
Way back, I am pretty sure two bands performed at the first ever festival, and over the years, such bands as SHORT STACK and OCTOBER RAGE have played the festival. As well as three separate stages hosting over 100 young people, there are also market stalls, food, an animal farm, family rides and so much more. This is an all ages event with FREE ENTRY, and please note, it is alcohol and drug free.
I will be hanging around all day as it goes from 9am till 5pm, so come and say hello at the Lake Macquarie FM 97.3 gazebo, it is blue and white, become a member for just $15 to support the station and receive a Lake Macquarie FM T-Shirt.
