THE OSMAN: Alpine Falls, One Day Apart and more…

Newcastle Live -

Music

This week’s program, Ossie And Friends (Lake Macquarie FM 97.3 Wednesday 6pm till 9pm) is proudly sponsored by VIBES Australia which is held at The Coast Hotel at Budgewoi each Thursday Night.

We will kick off the program tonight with ALPINE FALLS, a 4-piece alternative rock band from Maitland. Their visit is brought to you by Springfest 2, which is a festival of fine food, beer and music being held at Hinton on October 15.

The boys enjoy playing a mix of originals and covers. This band was previously known as Youth Avenue, establishing their name in their local town at a young age. The band took a 12 month break and have now come back with their new name, ALPINE FALLS, all ready to break into the music scene with a new name and new music. Some of their musical influences include You Me At Six, Yellowland and Bring Me The Horizon. This is why I enjoy the local music scene and being involved in it, as visits from young bands influenced by bands that I have never heard of, opens up new music to this old fella’s ear.

I am looking forward to having the band in the studio playing live for you over the airwaves. You can find out more about ALPINE FALLS by visiting their Facebook Page @OfficialAlpineFallsBand.

Our second guests visiting us in the studio tonight is ONE DAY APART, an energetic 4 piece alternative rock band from the northern end of the Central Coast. Their musical influences include The Beatles, The Doors, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Foo Fighters, U2 and more. ONE DAY APART is brought to you by Music Solutions at Warners Bay, a music store run by musicians.

ONE DAY APART have had great success with their debut album, A Perfect Mess and also enjoy a solid following on the live music scene.

The band is about to head off to play at one of the biggest festivals on the Australian music calendar, Snowtunes, which is being held at Jindabyne this coming weekend. To be invited to play at this festival is deemed an honour and the boys are looking forward to blowing the punters into Lake Jindabyne.

That’s not the only good news for the band, just in time, they will be showcasing their yet to be released EP, Water Into Fire. Their single from this EP, Blind Kiljoy is an excellent track and you will hear it tonight on OSSIE AND FRIENDS as well as the entire EP, including a very special cover that the band has recorded….you will have to tune in tonight to hear it.

As a matter of fact, tonight’s playing of the EP is another first for Ossie And Friends and Lake Macquarie FM 97.3, as no other program has played the EP.

Along with the EP, the band has also organised some merchandise, T-Shirts, stubby holders and a little something new that I haven’t seen bands provide, condoms…..

Check out more about One Day Apart and how you can get hold of their music and special merchandise by visiting their Facebook Page, @OneDayApart.

Our third and final guests in the studio tonight, SHORT N CURLY are brought to you by Cardiff Golf Driving Range, Cardiff.

This duo, now husband and wife Peter and Del Moore, came together after Del had been Peter’s carer. The two joined in holy matrimony and Peter encouraged Del to take up bass guitar. Now, there is no stopping the dynamic duo as they make beautiful music together.

SHORT N CURLY are a fun duo that plays a wide variety of music from the 60’s to the 80’s and will be playing live in the studio tonight for our listeners. Check out more about them on Facebook.
