Remember a few years ago when Hollywood star Ashton Kutcher shared a video of a local bloke singing to his new wife at their wedding? Well, the man behind that video, local entertainer Benn Allsop, has given new life to the song that was heard by millions of people across the globe. So, we caught up with him last week to chat.

THE ORIGINAL: Some Background

In 2014, local entertainer Benn Allsop was asked by a close friend to be the Best Man at his wedding. Benn doesn’t do anything by halves, so he set to work on producing the best ‘best man speech’ he could put together. The result was a song dedicated to the newly betrothed that was captured on film and shared by thousands of people across the web.

Not long after that, Benn set to work on writing a song and planning a surprise for his own wedding. He performed the song during his 2015 September wedding, it was captured by their wedding videographer, shared on Youtube and not long after posted to the Facebook page of Hollywood star, Ashton Kutcher. A few days later it had been seen my millions of people and Benn found himself being interviewed on morning chat shows and radio stations around the globe.

You can check out the videos of Benn signing the best man speech and the viral video of his own wedding above and below.

THE REMIX: Thank You

The original song, as you can hear above is very much a pop song with heart. The remix, however, strips the song back to its roots and offers an acoustic reworking without losing any of the feel good of the original.

We asked Benn why he chose to reinterpret the song during our interview, which you can hear above.
