Port Stephens’ institution, Murray’s Craft Brewing Co will kick off Dark Beer Month with free winter concerts at Murray’s Brewery. Local favourite, the Mark Wells Band will headline the weekend’s entertainment on Sunday 7 June with the Norm Bakker Elvis tribute show delighting punters on Saturday 6 June.
Three new beers will also be launched on the weekend, in addition to the brewer’s original iconic beer, Murray’s ‘Wild Thing’ Imperial Stout.
“I love this beer! There is just nothing insipid about it – Wild Thing is just full of attitude,” says Head Brewer, Graeme Mahy. “It’s well above the upper limits of flavour and colour for its class – Wild Thing is totally black – impossible to see through even when held up to the light.”
“Each June we bring out our darkest beers and throw a flavour party,” says brewery owner, Murray Howe. “These aren’t ordinary beers. They’re big, bold, crazy Imperial Stouts, Belgian Strong Ales and Dunkelweizens – and we’ve ensured there’s something for everyone.”
“We’re aiming to give people some great reasons to celebrate and get out of the house in these cooler months. Experience Port Stephens and try some warming dark beers, delicious food specials including beer-marinated ham hocks and woodfired blue cheese pizzas, enjoy great live music, and more.” he said.
