One of the truly hidden gems in the local music scene, ‘Jim Gordon’s Travelling Companions’ hitting the stage at the Great Northern Hotel this Saturday night (June 21).
The band which could easily be considered the love child of 70’s era Stones, Rumours era Fleetwood Mac with a bit of Springsteen and Tom Waits thrown in for good measure features some seriously top shelf Novocastrian musicians. The line-up includes Christian McDermid and John McIvor who partake in the ‘ancient art of weaving’ on twin lead guitar, with Hunter Powell on acoustic guitar and organ. The band is rounded out by the best rhythm section going around comprising of Brad Elliot on Drums and Chris Lee on bass. James Vidler provides lead vocals and spiritual redemption.
Jim Gordon’s Travelling Companions play predominantly original material that covers love, loss, regret, happiness, contentment and addiction, sometimes all in the one verse. Musically, the vibe of the band is to get out of the head in into the hips.
Jim Gordon’s Travelling Companions is a crackerjack live band by any measure. For more information about the show contact the venue or visit the Facebook Page – https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jim-Gordons-Travelling-Companions/107712656014088
