The Stag & Hunter Hotel in Mayfield continues to roll out month after month of kick arse live music and February is no different.  From the all in fun of the Merewether Fats Blues Jam this Thursday night (Feb 4) to the amazingly talented Lloyd Speigel on the 19th, there really is something for everyone this month at The Stag. 

The Voodoo Express

The Voodoo Express are a powerhouse Blues/Rock band featuring some of Newcastles finest musicians.Their combined experience delivers a knockout perfomance everytime they hit the stage.In their short existence so far they have brought to audiences a show that is jam packed with energy and production that is rarely seen in venues these days.

Dan Hanrahan & The Roadsiders

Den Hanrahan was born kicking and screaming and he’s not about to change. Likened to artists such as Steve Earle, Townes Van Zandt and Gillian Welch, Den’s music is his version of bluegrass and contemporary up tempo acoustic/electric music. Born of one-night stands and roadhouses He’s not afraid to take his audience along for the ride. With his gutsy vocals, lively guitar playing and raw, stripped back style, His gigs are bold and upbeat, yet he maintains an intimacy with the audience as he weaves his way through tales of the lonely life on the road and the characters he has met traveling on it.

Guitarist Jim Finn received his first guitar on his 17th birthday and never looked back. Unsatisfied with local Instructors, Jim began teaching himself through various instructional books and videos. The early ninties demanded an internet handle or screen name and having gone through a few Jim finally landed on “studioneo”. Jim was tagged the name NEO working for a start up dot com due to the fact there were two Jim’s

If Jeff Lang, Ash Grunwald, Spiderbait, Slim Dusty, and Wolfmother had a rockin’ baby it would be a wee bit weird but it would also start a band that sounded like 19-Twenty!
