Fear Like Us have announced a big show in Newcastle to celebrate the release of their upcoming sophomore LP.
Featuring the ex-Novocastrian stylings of Jamie Hay (Solo/Conation) and Lauren Hammel (High Tension/Like…Alaska), the bands show at The Lass O’Gowrie on Friday May 20 will be a homecoming of sorts.
The east coast tour is in support of their long-awaited second LP Succour, which will be released via Poison City Records on May 6. Soccour is a noun meaning “assistance and support in times of hardship and stress”, a theme that runs through the bands new album. You can listen to one of the tracks from the album ‘Red Ochre’ below:
Once loosely categorised under the ‘folk punk’ banner, across twelve years Fear Like Us have evolved into a powerful genre-crossing melodic punk act. Respected as one of the foundation acts signed to the landmark Poison City label, Fear Like Us have inspired and informed the sound of many of the acts on the label, while also touring the country and supporting acts such as Against Me, The Smith Street Band, and Blueline Medic.
Joining them on the 5-date tour will be local act Run Squirrel. Featuring the songwriting talents of ex-Like…Alaska member Thomas Gunn, the band have built a following for their pulsating and emotional songs. The band have announced that their new EP is set to be released in the coming months, and you can stream their latest song ‘Simplistic’ now on their bandcamp.
Joining these two bands on at The Lass O’Gowrie will be Hey Lady! And Rangers of the Universe. The show is free entry and copies of Fear Like Us’ new album will be available on CD and Vinyl.
