‘LET IT SNOW’ at Maitland Riverside Plaza this school holidays.

‘Winter Wonderland in the Plaza’ is coming to Maitland Riverside Plaza (formerly Hunter Mall) on Wednesday 12 July from 10am to celebrate the relaunch of the revitalised shopping centre.

On the second Wednesday of the school holidays, Maitland Riverside Plaza will be transformed for the day into an enchanted, snow-covered land that will delight kids and big kids alike. Visitors to the centre will be able to make snow angels in the artificial snow zone and throw virtual snowballs at their neighbours in a virtual reality world. The kids will be thrilled to have their photo taken with Anna, Elsa and Olaf from Disney’s Frozen in our wintery themed photography area and have their face painted to look like an ice prince or princess.

“We are excited to be launching the newly renovated Plaza to the Maitland community at a time when the city is experiencing rapid growth,” said Chakyl Camal, CEO of Panthera Property Group, the owner of Maitland Riverside Plaza. “This event is designed to celebrate the relaunch of the renovated centre with the community and provide a unique and entertaining experience for locals.”

Wednesday 12 July also represents the opening of Maitland’s new Aldi store which will be a popular addition to the area. The re-launch of the centre will be officially marked with a short ribbon cutting ceremony at 10am and an appearance from local gold medal winning Paralympian, Maddison Elliot.

“We chose to rename the centre ‘Maitland Riverside Plaza’ to fit with the changing CBD and forge strong ties with its riverside identity,” said Camal. “There are a wide-range of stores within the centre and the addition of Aldi will help to make the Plaza an even more attractive shopping destination for the Maitland community.”

On the day, the Plaza will support the Mark Hughes Foundation, by selling ‘Beanies for Brain Cancer’ and raffling off a trolley full of groceries donated by Aldi with proceeds to be donated to the charity.
