Acclaimed songwriter William Crighton will hit the road with lauded Canadian singer-songwriter Terra Lightfoot in November. The shows will feature new music from his anticipated second album due for release in 2018.
His 2016 self-titled debut record revealed Crighton to be a master craftsman of song and a formidable performing artist. Currently on tour with Dan Sultan, Crighton has had a busy 2017.He has released and toured 7-inch single Hope Recovery, played a swag of festivals, including WOMADelaide, supported The Beach Boys and The Temptations, and showcased at Canadian Music Week.
On the October long weekend he will make a triumphant return to home soil to headline the Friday night of Dashville Skyline (September 29), and South Australia’s Semaphore Festival (October 1), before he hits New York City for a showcase performance at the Mondo Music Conference.
The tour’s name, ‘Stand on the Side of Love’, is inspired by one of the new tracks that Crighton has been working on alongside producer Matt Sherrod on his second full-length recording.
Terra Lightfoot has created quite a buzz in her home territory of Canada. The soulful rocker and lion-hearted singer-songwriter will now make her maiden trip to Australia, having already found a following in countries such as France and the UK.
Pop Matters wrote:“A roots rocker with a powerful voice and a bad-ass Gibson SG that she plays with consummate ease… she could be your new rock ‘n’ roll hero. Drawing from rock, soul and blues, [Terra Lightfoot] is a monster talent that will be gracing the world’s largest festival stages in no time.”
It appears the pairing of Crighton and Lightfoot is the meeting of two like-minded souls
