December 16th. 9am-3pm. Civic Park, Newcastle. Newcastle’s original local art and design market invites the community to join us at The Olive Tree Market on December 16th to celebrate our final market for 2017!! It’s also the place to be for special last-minute shopping, for those in your life who love beautifully crafted, designer, handmade goods. Plus, stock up on gourmet foodie products to fill the Christmas hamper, and share over long lunches with good friends and loved ones, over the holiday season. There will also be free kid’s activities, live music, the Newcastle Ukestra and lots more!

Apart from the sheer enjoyment of wandering Civic Park and chatting with artists and stallholders on a balmy Saturday, The Olive Tree Market encourages shopping local and championing creative talent and innovative small businesses. Shopping at the market helps build a sense of community- you can get to know the people who are making the products you’re buying, hear their recommendations, and contribute to social enterprise.

A hub of creativity

On December 16th at Civic Park from 9-3pm, come and say hi to local, unique artists like beautifully detailed botanical illustrations by Nicole Berlach, men’s skincare by The Mister Brand, stunning resin jewellery, in hues reminiscent of the ocean, by Oshka Black, contemporary ceramics by It’s a Public Holiday, handmade wooden implements by Artisan Utensils, street fashion, featuring the illustrations of maker and indigenous artist, Jason Coultard of Wakarla, textile based homewares by Bob Window, leather accessories by well-known local maker Geordie Malone of Hide & Seeker, sustainable fashion, created with hand dyed eco fabrics by Inside Jo.b, and take the opportunity to purchase original water colours by Olive Tree favourite artist Kiasmin Burrell.

Fill your basket with delicious seasonally created gourmet goods for the festive season- you’ll be spoiled for choice! Hand blended teas for serious tea drinkers T Totaler Tea, chutneys from social enterprise Eat Me Chutneys, delicious puddings, including our favourite date and toffee, from Pudding Lane, crisp breads and grissini from the award winning Bacco’s Bakery, honey created in our inner-city suburbs from Urban Hum , German shortbreads from Oma’s Kitchen as well as pickles and preserves from the Newcastle branch of the Country Women’s Association!

Olive Tree returns in 2018!
The Olive Tree Market takes a break in January, and will return in 2018, with the first market for the year on February 3rd in Civic Park.
