Newcastle Brickfest 2017
9:30 am - 5:30 pm
These July school holiday Newcastle Brickfest returns. This is a perfect family event with something for all members of the family. We have moved to a new venue at the Newcastle Racecourse.
Once again we are supporting Newcastle schools and charitable organisations. As a result of your support of this event we have managed to donate over $30,000 in the previous 3 years to local schools and charities.
This is our largest Brickfest with over 50 exhibitors and 150 tables of displays for you to enjoy. This is double the size of last year’s event. There will be original creations and collaborations as well as displays of LEGO sets for children of all ages. Including Star Wars USC, Duplo, Minecraft and our LEGO City layout.
The exhibitors are coming from across NSW to show you their creations. Feel free to talk to them about their display or just about LEGO in general. Photos are always welcome!
Like everything else about this year’s Newcastle Brickfest our city layout is our largest and most ambitious to date. It measures over 14m long and includes a LEGO version of Kooragang Island with it’s Bucket Wheel Excavators and a visit from the MV Drake, previously known as the Pasha Bulker!
This build is a combined build with 15 exhibitors contributing to it and has been months in the planning. It also including working trains and a monorail along with a train turntable.
A new activity we have this year are the Speed Builds. These will be held on the hour during the day. Each person will 3 minutes to build something from a random selection of bricks. What will you build? There are prizes for the winners.
Another new activity this year is the LEGO RC Racing. We have an oval track with 4 LEGO sets 42065: RC Tracked Racer to race around our track. This activity is best for the over 8 year old. Maybe Dad could have a go!
We are also introducing “Find the Minifig” this year for all the family. Across our exhibits there will be a number of Faun Minifigs hiden. Find them and tell us how many you found for a chance to win a prize.
As always there will be a build area for the children to create something after seeing the exhibitor’s displays. However this year we have some display tables for the children to display their creations on so other can enjoy them too.
Another popular item is the LEGO Raffle which is returning again. The proceeds from this like the profits from the event go to the schools/charitable organisations.
We are also joined by the always popular 501st Legion plus some of their friends!
The Café will be open for visitors and parents to take a break and enjoy a coffee or snack.
There will also be items for sale including collectible minifigures, hard-to-find items, parts packs, jewellery, engraved bricks and vintage sets.
