On 23 June The Prince Of Wales Hotel in Merewether will lift the curtain on their new pop-up bar, The Cat’s Pajamas! And you’re invited…
The launch party will feature local five piece electronic indie pop band FOEMEN with DJ Tomek on the decks between sets. You can find out more about Foemen below.
Aside from offering a selection of wines, spirits, tap and bottled beer, Upstairs bar has a focus on classic cocktails.
The Cat’s Pajamas mixology shines a light on quality gin including the bar’s signature cocktail, the “Northside”. It’s a fresh, herbaceous, fragrant spiced gin based delight with lemoncello, coriander, roasted black pepper, lime & tonic. Yeah, we know it sounds delicious.
To kick things off on Friday night the upstairs bar will offer “after work coffees”, which is a sneaky way of saying Espresso Martinis for only $10 between 6pm and 8pm! And because it’s a celebration the upstairs bar will also have $10 champagne cocktails from 8pm until 10pm.
The music kicks off with Dj Tomek at 8pm with the mighty Foemen hitting the stage at 10pm!
#PROTIP: The Prince Of Wale’s new pop-up restaurant, Two Mules will be open from 5.30 for anyone wanting a bite ahead of the launch party!
ABOUT: The Cat’s Pajamas
Khe Sanh, Brown Eyed Girl, Sweet Home Alabama and Horses…Are you sick of hearing the same old songs in every venue you walk into? So are The Prince Hotel’s new owners Julianne and Ty.
“I have a lot of respect for local artists who are playing around town every weekend, but I wanted to do something different here,” Ty told us.
“There’s no Khe Sanh and no cutlets here, we want to offer Newcastle something it doesn’t currently have and showcase the diversity of local musicians and DJs”.
Born out of an 18 month trip overseas, it is no wonder that FOEMEN are a mix of electronic, pop and rock – music from the sweet spot that makes you want to dance.
Think David Bowie meets Kavinsky, but more resonating guitars paired with meaty, driving bass. FOEMEN are a 5-piece electronic/indie/pop band from the ‘formerly known as’ steel city, Newcastle.
Written by lead singer Brendy Cann and keyboardist Ruth MacDonald, Queen and Country is the first single from their yet-to-be-released debut album, “Detritus City”. Queen and Country’s gritty bassline hook set the tone for the rest of the album, scheduled for release in the second half of 2016.
