Stooged Theatre is thrilled to be staging the award-winning and sharp-tongued Cock by Mike Bartlett at The Royal Exchange, Bolton Street, from Thursday 9 November.

John needs a break from his needy boyfriend, he needs to find himself and he needs to be single. John then meets the girl of his dreams. Torn between the two, John flip flops between male and female, straight and gay, whatever he is. Full of guilt and indecision, John feels the pressure as, the truth be told, he doesn’t know what he needs. And his boyfriend and new girlfriend need him to decide.

Wowing audiences in London, New York, Melbourne and Sydney, Cock is a wild exploration of sexuality and ambivalence, and as lovers battle for their claim, we learn this is the ultimate cockfight. In our current political climate – when debates of marriage fill the media – Cock asks the question, what is the “normal” choice?

Cock is directed by Mathew Lee (The Pillowman, The Weir), assisted by Charlotte De Wit (Lord of the Flies) and features Elise Bialek (Blood Bank), Alan Glover (The Importance of Being Earnest), Drew Holmes (The Book of Everything) and Benjamin Louttit (The Weir).
