It’s been a hell of a decade for Australia’s favourite beard-themed propaganda rock band! To celebrate the ten year milestone, The Beards will embark on an Anniversary Tour that stops into Newcastle’s Cambridge Hotel on Saturday October 24.
Forming in 2005 to play just one show in their hometown of Adelaide in South Australia, The Beards quickly realised that their unique style of show was very popular. With the release of their self-titled debut album, and follow-up album Beards Beards Beards, The Beards began a relentless touring crusade to spread their pro-beard message, playing sold-out shows across Australia, festival appearances including Big Day Out, Falls Festival and Woodford Folk Festival, and of course their now legendary appearance at the 2009 World Beard and Moustache Championships in Anchorage, Alaska.
“When we started out, we didn’t anticipate just how much global demand there would be for songs about beards.” Reflects frontman Johann Beardraven. “It’s been really amazing to discover that so many other people around the world share our unwavering enthusiasm when it comes to beards.”
The ‘Ten Long Years, One Long Beard’ Anniversary Tour will give Aussie audiences the opportunity to see this beloved local export up close, performing some of their favourite tracks from their extensive, heavily beard-themed back catalogue.
Tickets are on sale now via the band’s website.
