Bringing back Newcastle’s stolen days

Newcastle Live -

Music

Remember when Newcastle was alive with local music every Wednesday night? It seems so long ago, but Wednesday nights in Newy were a time for musos, artists, students and hospitality workers to came together, form life long friendships and get into some live music.

Well tomorrow night (Wednesday August 5), you’ll get the chance to relive all that, and make some new memories at the first of many Stolen Days events to be held at The Great Northern Hotel in Newcastle.

Stolen Days will continue fortnightly at the hotel with the view to become a weekly thing.

The people behind the event, ESCAPIST told Newcastle Live that they wanted to bring back a little of what they loved about the local scene all those years ago.

“The event was started in response to a lack of venues with live music for the last couple of years, and the decline of Newcastle traditional student night. We want to build a place and an institution where young people can come to and feel safe and welcomed. They can let off steam, have a great party and create new memories. We also want to invite the older people back looking for a bit of nostalgia and allow them to steal the days of their youth back”

The Stolen Days events will be split across three rooms in the Great Northern. There’ll be a band room, a DJ room and a chill out room featuring Mario Kart tournaments on a big screen.

“The band room will feature mainly rock, punk, metal and hardcore bands including both local and touring acts” ESCAPIST told us.

On the bill this week are; Taken By Force, Ill Natured and Mindshank withHumble and Pure Blonde DJing in the chill room.
