Bow Wow Comes To Newcastle

2000’s Hip-Hop icon Bow Wow has announced a show at The Cambridge Hotel on Friday August 5. He’s taking a break from writing his 7th album Underrated, and appearing on CSI: Cyber for a run of Australian dates.

Perhaps more affectionaly known as Lil’ Bow Wow, he has since dropped the “Lil'” from his name (which makes sense, cause he isn’t that lil’ anymore). He released his debut single, ‘Bounce With Me’, aged 13 – and it shot to #1 on the US Rap charts.

The story of Bow Wow is unique and unbelieveable; a pre-pubescent Shad Gregory Moss hops up on stage during a Snoop Dogg concert in Columbus and lays down bars in front of thousands. Snoop Dogg was so impressed that he offered to bring Moss to LA and start a Hip Hop career, and bestowed him the name Lil’ Bow Wow.

His debut album Beware Of Dog was released in 2000 and went double platinum only six months after it’s release. It wasn’t until his 3rd album Unleashed that he would drop the stage name to become simply Bow Wow. It brought about his biggest hit to date; a collab with Birdman (a man famous for his bird calls at the start of sogs) that went to #14 in the Billboard charts.

Now only 29, Moss can boast a 16+ year career in the game, creating numerous singles that broke the Billboard Top 20. Bow Wow has also made a transition to the world of acting; appearing in Roll Bounce, The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift, and the iconic childhood basketball film Like Mike. Moss is also currently working on his 7th studio album, the hotly anticipated Underrated, which is developing a Chinese Democracy-esque backstory.

Bow Wow is stopping at The Cambridge Hotel as part of his Australian tour, no supports or special guests have been announced yet, but it’s sure to be a massive night. Early Bird and VIP tickets are now available from Big Tix.
