Blanc de Blanc is a bubbly rollercoaster of naughtiness, champagne, comedy and breathtaking acrobatic talent. It’s probably the most risqué show we’ve ever seen in Newcastle, and you’d be mad to miss it.
Throughout the opening night, we were reminded once again why The Spiegeltent, that’s taken up residence in Civic Park for the next three weeks, is one of the best performance spaces you’ll ever see live entertainment in. It’s a real shared experience, and being there inside the tent is really half the allure. You feel like you’re a part of the show… and sometimes you are.
It’s great to see some inclusive comedy. It’s risqué but it’s not pointed, aimed or picking on anyone. You’re part of the joke rather than being the joke.
The majority of the laughs come from award-winning clown, Spencer Novich. Spencer brings together mime and contortion in his Blanc de Blanc performance. Combine that with great punchlines and pinpoint accuracy for comedic timing and you’ve got yourself a recipe for some deep belly laughs. We had to agree with the guy sitting next to us who described the world-class performer as Rowan Atkinson with ADHD.
Arguably this is what people come to The Spiegeltent for, and Blanc de Blanc doesn’t disappoint.
We don’t want to give too much away but you’ll be amazed as a Bellhop swings above your head and the final act, performed by partners Milena Straczynski & Hampus Jansson, will leave you breathless – it’s worth the admission price alone.
This is a show about Champagne. And where better to enjoy a glass of bubbles than in a bath full of bubbles. It’s sexy and if you’re in the front row you’re gonna get wet.
Monsieur Roméo is Blanc de Blanc’s debonair French-born maître d’. He’s easy on the eye and his breathy delivery of Champagne facts is the perfect way to bring all the elements of the cabaret together. Just try and say “cork” in a sexy French accent and you’ll get the picture.
The Spiegeltent opened last night with Blanc de Blanc playing for another 3 weeks with some of the very best circus, comedy, music and cabaret shows also on the bill! Check out all the dates and info about the other shows inside The Spiegeltent here.
#protip: Throw caution to the wind and book a Private Booth. It’s totally worth it – and your friends will be totally jealous. Booths are fixed price and seat up to 8 people. The booth will be reserved under the name of the ticket purchaser on a first in, best-dressed basis at the time of booking. Click here to find out more.
Food and drink: We’ve had a lot of questions on our Facebook page about the food and beverage options at The Spiegeltent. Beer, wine and other beverages are available from the bar inside and outside the venue and there are a handful of food options from sweet to savoury including freshly shucked oysters.
