All our courses are SUBSIDISED by the NSW Government through Smart and Skilled. The student’s contribution will vary depending on individual circumstances, however the maximum that a student will pay is one-third of the course costs.

CERTIFICATE 4 MUSIC INDUSTRY 

Certificate 4 students attend 2 days per week for 6 months. Students have lots of time to work part time in the music and entertainment industry, go and check out some local gigs or work on their own music. 

When you enrol in the new Certificate 4 Music Industry, you must select your preferred area of specialisation. There are three:

PERFORMANCE

With this course you take the next step towards becoming a musician or music industry professional. Students get opportunities to collaborate with other musicians and enhance their existing skills in performance, theory, song-writing, improvisation and music technology. Student learn the finer skills of combining song-writing, recording and mixing and are involved in intensive performance classes that teaches them how to perform as part of a band, or excel at solo performances. Employment opportunities include performing, teaching, composing and recording.

If you want to further develop your stagecraft techniques, the following pathway is available: Diploma Music Industry (Performance)

SOUND PRODUCTION

If you have some experience using professional audio recording equipment and want to develop your knowledge of sound production by applying that knowledge to a broader range of projects, this is the specialisation for you. Students apply their knowledge and experience in both a recording studio and live setting by assisting in the recording and mixing of artists through a series of gigs. The course is for anyone who wants to work as an assistant sound technician or sound engineer in the music, performance and media industries.

If you want to further develop your recording techniques into professional engineering, the following pathway is available: Diploma Music Industry (Sound Production).

MUSIC BUSINESS

This course is designed for students who wish to learn more about the music industry and in particular event management, marketing, management, project management, contracting and public relations. Students develop skills in promoting music, managing artists and their products, organising merchandise, business management and developing their own career as a music industry professional.

There are many opportunities to collaborate with other musicians to enhance their skills in promotion and management.
