9 acts from BIGSOUND we can’t wait to see in the Hunter in 2016

Music

Newcastle Live were on the ground at BIGSOUND 2015 to catch all the great music you’ll be seeing in local venues next year. Here are 9 acts we can’t wait to see in the Hunter during 2016.

Babaganouj

Probably the band we were most excited to see at Bigsound this year. Frontman, Charles is enigmatic and brooding on stage. Their songs are catchy with a nod to noise bands of the 90’s.

Gordi

Gordi’s set at Oh Hello was one of the highlights of the festival for us. The young singer songwriter was the recipient of the 2015 Josh Pyke Partnership, and for good reason.

Food Court

Aussie punk rock doesn’t get better than this. We knew we were in for something special as we crammed into Ric’s Bar and the boys from Food Court delivered beyond our expectations.

Dubarray

Funky hippy grooves, perfect for a lunch time session. These guys were tight and entertaining and would make the perfect addition to any festival lineup.

A real surprise package here. Samples, dreamy reverb soaked vocals and plenty of appeal.

Baro

Aussie hip hop at its best. Baro and his crew delivered a cracking set on the Unearthed stage at Oh Hello in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley and we think he’ll draw a big crowd here in at home.

Harts

One of the biggest acts on the Bigsound bill. We can’t write anything that hasn’t already been said about Harts. This is a bright shining star in the making and it was awesome to see him on his rise to the top.

Shining Bird

Captivating is the word that comes to mind when describing Shining Bird’s set at Bigsound. Hearing them play their single, Keep Warm was a real highlight.

Ben Salter

With Clint from Something For Kate on the drums, we were really keen to see Ben Salter in full flight at Bigsound and he didn’t let us down. This guy is cooking.
