It’s been a great week for new music on Unearthed. Here’s some of the track’s we’ve been listening to.

Mosquito Coast – Commotion

CLICK TO LISTEN

Earlier in the year Mosquito Coast were announced (in style) as the winners of Unearthed High for 2015. For the 8th year triple j scoured the nation to find the greatest act still in High School, and this year it was the duo from Perth. Part of their prize was travelling to Sydney to record a brand new song with Greg Wales at triple j’s studio. The end result is ‘Commotion’, a summary indie tune with a killer chorus.

SOUNDS LIKE: The Breeders, Karen O

Wild Honey

CLICK TO LISTEN

Wild Honey are on fire in the second half of 2015, their latest single ‘Eye To Eye’ is a slice of tasty psych pop that throws in just a hint of country. On top of that they’re just about to kick off a tour supporting The Delta Riggs, that stops at Bar On The Hill on October 8th. These Sydneysiders are a band to watch next year.

SOUNDS LIKE: Tame Impala, Big Star

Jess Kent – Get Down

CLICK TO LISTEN
The daughter of an African/Indian Mother and a Blues Rock Guitarist for a dad; Jess Kent was born in England, moved to Adelaide, and settled in Sydney. Her first song is an irresistible piece of electronic-pop, with just enough reggae in there to keep it grooving.

SOUNDS LIKE: M.I.A.

Postblue – Glow Like Crazy

CLICK TO LISTEN
Postblue have dropped their first song following their debut album I Hope They’re Praying For Me which was released through Poison City Records. Their new song ‘Glow Like Crazy’ trades in some of their 90’s grunge vibes for more of an 80’s feel, with a really catchy chorus to boot.

SOUNDS LIKE: The Church, Pixies

Bad Decisions – ALLDAY

CLICK TO LISTEN
Bad Decisions have been building a bit of buzz around the country. The combo of Andrew Ghisoni & Cameron Breen from Newcastle have played some tight sets on the East Coast, including an appearance at Snow Tunes in August. ‘ALLDAY’ is a breezy little electronic tune with Trap and Future Bass influences. There’s some subtle drops through the song that keep things interesting. They want you to “make bad decisions” 凸(¬‿¬)凸

SOUNDS LIKE: Flume, Crankdat

This list was compiled by Spencer Scott. Spencer Scott is a SuperUser on triple j Unearthed.
