5 reasons to check out The Terrace Bar

The Terrace Bar’s long-awaited re-opening over the weekend saw a resounding revival of one of Newcastle’s most interesting night spots.

The copious and curious crowds came streaming in; newcomers delighted in a change of scenery, while returning locals re-discovered their old haunt. If you didn’t get the chance to check it out for yourself, here’s a few reasons why you definitely should…

1. The rooftop (of course)

Possibly the most appealing perk The Terrace Bar has up its sleeve, offering Newcastle’s only rooftop bar experience. And, you don’t even have to wait for those balmy Summer evenings to return before you can enjoy some alfresco ales – The rooftop terrace is completely kitted out with outdoor heating to combat the Winter chill.

2. The cruisy candlelit vibe

There’s a lot to be said about candlelight. It softens any situation (or facial blemish, for that matter), covering all manner of sins with its flattering warm glow. When you walk into The Terrace Bar, you instantly feel a freedom from the harsh, fluorescent reality of the outside world. Its moody nooks and darkened corners create the perfect atmosphere to embrace your casual weekend escapism.

3. The quirky trinkets

Wherever you look, some little oddity or peculiar gadget is bound to catch your eye. From vintage homewares, to antique toys, to one-of-a-kind artworks, The Terrace Bar is full of eclectic knick-knacks for you to discover.

4. The Get-Down

The return of The Terrace Bar also sees the return of one of its most popular offerings, ‘The Get-Down’. A monthly night run by DJ’s Trav-K and Dizzy Dizcipl, who never fail to turn up the heat on the Terrace dance floor with their latin/funk/soul beats. Hot tip: Be sure to get in early, because these events fill up fast!

5. The bar offering

From a modest can of lager to a refined 18 year old whiskey, and everything in between, The Terrace Bar has all tastes and budgets covered. For a small space, the bar offers a nicely varied selection of spirits, wine, beer and cocktails, as well as cheese platters and grazing plates for those who enjoy a nibble with their nightcap.

The Terrace Bar has certainly cemented its comeback, adding a unique and intimate space to Newcastle’s nightlife. Take your next night out to interesting new heights, and check out The Terrace Bar – We can’t wait to stake out our spot on the rooftop this weekend!
