5 Newcastle bands you should be listening to this week

Newcastle Live -

Music Playlists

We’re back with another 5 Newcastle bands you should be listening to right now. Yes we know that some are solo artists and producers, but we just love the headline so much…

We also have a LOCAL MUSIC HIT LIST we update regularly on Spotify with heaps of local music, so get amongst it!

Jason Lowe

Take a second to look outside your window. It’s deliciously grey and calm and every single part of the world is just forcing you to take a teeny tiny moment just to breathe. Jason’s music is so heartbreakingly wonderful and I was a fan of his from the moment I first saw him perform. He’s also knee deep in the process of making his second album and if it’s even half as good as his first, you’ll be his next biggest fan too.

Underachiever

Nobody speak to me or my scrappy punk sons again. These guys are wonderful, and play music that literally screams Newy. Frontman Daniel Foster is a delightfully complex guy with a whole lot of heart and he manages to lay it all on the line with his songwriting. They are constantly playing locally so there’s really no excuse to miss them playing around the traps. Let’s all get sweaty together.

Introvert

We’ve missed these guys on our list many a time and quite frankly, it’s purely because you should  have been listening to them already. These guys are going to continue to be one of the biggest bands to come out of Newcastle and make sure you jump on the wagon before you miss out all together and spend the weekend with the alt-punk four-piece wrapped around your ears. If you’re planning a trip away this weekend the boys will be playing a show in Sydney, taking on the big smoke once again.

Belle Badi

I saw Belle play at the Commons just this Wednesday gone and there was something about her performance that kind of had me hooked. I’ve been playing “Time Machine” on repeat ever since, and rumour has it there are some big things in the works for the singer/songwriter. A cool RnB vibe with a little something extra to tickle your fancy.

Rort Menace

Man I just discovered these guys today and I feel like my face has melted off in the best possible way. Ridiculously heavy, abrasive and unapologetic punk rock and I love it! We’re all about genre diversification here at Newcastle Live so if you’re into something on the heavier side of things get around these guys immediately. Much good, heaps wow.
